Reasons for Price Increase
Although iPhones are manufactured in India, many components are imported. Goods are brought into India after paying an excise duty, which adds to consumer costs due to taxes. The GST on phones is 18%. Because of these taxes, phone prices can increase by around 35%.
The number of iPhone users in India is significantly lower than in the USA, Japan, or China. When demand is high, prices tend to drop, but in India, lower demand keeps prices higher.
Apple is employing a unique marketing strategy in India. When a new iPhone is launched, the prices of older models drop significantly. However, prices of other brands may not decrease as much.
As the dollar value increases, the prices of goods also rise. This factor contributes to keeping iPhone prices high in India.
